The Planting Philosophy

Progression over perfection

Sustainable websites aren’t about trying to be perfect. While every decision I make revolves around minimising our digital footprint, I recognise that it’s impossible to be perfectly carbon zero.

Planting for the Planet is about progression. It’s a commitment to rebalancing the impact of my services and your digital presence by actively removing as much CO₂ as from the atmosphere as possible.

I’ve chosen to donate to The National Trust for every project I complete. By supporting a UK-based charity, we can experience the benefits of our collaboration first hand through restoring local biodiversity, lowering the UK’s CO₂ output, and helping our businesses progress toward a more sustainable future, together.

One tree, millions of moments

The single tree impact

For every web page I create, I aim for a 0.15g CO₂ output per load (this one has 0.06g!).

Unfortunately, it’s impossible to calculate an accurate CO₂ output per session. Some users may view all of your pages, and some may view one. But let’s assume that a successful session will consist of navigating through 3 pages. They start at your home page, explore your services, then finish at your contact page to reach out to you. Totalling 0.45g CO₂ per session.

According to The National Trust, a single tree planted can absorb 1 tonne of CO₂ over its lifetime. When we do the math, the impact of a single tree becomes clear:

1,000,000
0.45
=
2,222,222

1 Tree = 2,222,222 website sessions

By planting a tree for your project, we are helping to rebalance the carbon output for potentially 2.2 million visitors. Planting for the Planet is not a carbon offset scheme. It's a chance for us to do a little extra in minimising our impact on the planet and keeping our digital footprint light.

Tailored to your footprint

THE Tree TIERS

Every project that I take on contributes to a greener landscape. Depending on the scope of our work together, I make a dedicated donation to The National Trust.

Young Sapling

BRAND IDENTITY PROJECTS

Contributing to the restoration of biodiversity by planting a new sapling, supporting the vital early stages of reforestation and creating a healthy foundation for native UK soil.

established Tree

WEBFLOW PROJECTS

Funding the planting of an established tree. This is a long-term investment to provide a habitat for local wildlife and helping native UK woodlands flourish for generations.

Double The donation

BRAND & WEB PROJECTS

Double the donation, double the impact! Funding the planting of two established trees, providing twice the habitat restoration and twice the flourishing of native UK woodlands.

From growth to growth

My sustainability Promise

Your launch

Once your project is launched, I’ll make the donation to The National Trust on your behalf. You’ll receive an official certificate of donation with your name on it to document your brands contribution to the UK native woodlands.

As You Scale

If your website outperforms the 2.22 million session milestone and surpasses the average 1 tonne of CO₂ that a tree is capable of absorbing, just simply reach out to me. We’ll make another donation to plant another tree!

The Next Evolution

Most websites undergo a major upgrade every 3-5 years. When you’re ready to level up and or redesign your site, we’ll repeat the process! I’ll donate to The National Trust again, allowing them to plant another tree to continue protecting our local biodiversity.
